Parents are able to store their childs' umbilical cord tissue with Smart Cells International. Leading scientists have shown that the Wharton's Jelly of the umbilical cord is a rich source of a different but equally important type of stem cell, called Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs).

Your stored stem cells are available for use by your child (autologous use) or with successful tissue matching, for use by other members of the family (allogeneic use).  In our scientific papers, an article discusses family-directed umbilical cord blood banking.  The results support targeted efforts to bank family cord blood units that can be used for a sibling diagnosed with a disease curable by allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
